The interior of the 70-meter superyacht "Mar Adentro" (from Spanish "On the high seas")
Freedom of choice itself has long been a marker of status and success. Collectible cars, private jets and yachts offer owners special opportunities, among which traveling along their own route occupies a special place.
The customer for whom we had previously designed a luxury residence in Marbella has again contacted Studia 54 with an unusual request. This time we had to create an interior design concept for his 70-meter superyacht with an elegant streamlined hull, panoramic windows and spacious decks.

70 meters
length of the Mar Adentro superyacht
1 ocean-inspired master bedroom
with a bespoke floor design
1 swirling school of fish
inspired by the owner's underwater explorations
1 fireplace lounge
for intimate evenings in the private lounge
In many ways, we were inspired by the yacht itself, its graceful silhouette, smooth curves of the hull and large surfaces of panoramic glazing. The yacht already had its own character, which we decided to develop in the interior through sculptural light objects and natural materials.
The palette was selected taking into account the shades of the Mediterranean Sea, and artistic solutions were associated with the customer's personal impressions of travel and scuba diving. This is how the Mar Adentro concept appeared, covering the three main spaces of the 220 m² yacht: a master bedroom, a formal living room and a private lounge.
Interior design features for yachts
When working on the interior of a yacht, the designer faces a special task. Unlike the villa, the project starts with the already formed structure of the vessel. We had to reveal the advantages of the existing layout and complement it with the character of Studia 54.
By the time the customer contacted her, the yacht was already a full-fledged vessel, ready for sea voyages. The organization of the decks and the location of the main rooms became the starting point for the development of the design concept.

The special feature of the yacht model is the organization of space: an upper deck with a panoramic lounge, a sun deck about 54 meters long and a three-level beach club at the stern with a pool equipped with a lifting bottom. It was the smooth lines of the vessel and the constant visual connection with the sea that inspired us to develop the interior concept.
For the owner, the yacht is primarily associated with traveling with family and close friends. The coast of Ibiza and neighboring Formentera offers a measured rest, swimming, diving and relaxing evenings at anchor. For longer trips, you can choose routes along the coast of Majorca and other Balearic Islands.
These scenarios also determined the character of the interiors. We tried to maintain a sense of spaciousness, provide a convenient connection between the front and private areas, and make seascapes a part of every room.

Planning logic
The Studia 54 team treats non-standard requests with special interest. Each such project becomes an opportunity to explore new materials, technologies, and ways of organizing space.
We started working on the Mar Adentro by studying the existing layout of the ship and the scenarios of the family's stay on board. The three main rooms have their own purpose and atmosphere.
The front living room
The main advantage of the living room is the panoramic glazing on both sides of the room. Thanks to it, seascapes can be viewed from almost anywhere, and daylight freely fills the space.
In the center there are several large sofa groups in light upholstery, armchairs and coffee tables made of natural stone. The furniture is organized in such a way that guests can communicate freely, admire the sea and spend time comfortably together.

The main artistic focus was the ceiling installation created according to the sketches of Studia 54. Its complex delicate shapes resemble the foam of sea waves and the outlines of the coastline, seen from a height. Metal elements reflect warm light and create a feeling of light movement over the living room.
A dining area with panoramic sea views is provided at the back of the room. Decorative panels, built-in illuminated shelves and natural materials connect it to the main living room space.
The Studia 54's approach to creating the yacht's interior is particularly noticeable here. We have kept free prospects and paid attention to every piece of furniture so that the spacious salon remains comfortable for family evenings and meetings with loved ones.

Private Lounge: inspiration from the underwater world
The most personal part of the project was the private lounge. During the discussion of the concept, the customer talked a lot about his underwater dives, marine life and impressions left by traveling in the Mediterranean Sea.
We were particularly interested in the behavior of fish gathering in huge shoals and forming moving funnels underwater. Similar clusters can be observed in Mediterranean barracudas, including in the waters between Ibiza and Formentera.
These memories formed the basis of the large-scale wall installation Studia 54. Hundreds of small metal elements resembling fish form an undulating motion along the wall. Their location creates the optical effect of an underwater current that changes direction depending on the viewing point.

Thoughtful living, relaxation, and entertaining scenarios in your own space

In the center of the lounge there is a round fireplace bowl surrounded by upholstered sofas and armchairs. This is a place for long evening conversations when the yacht is anchored and the sea is gradually darkening behind the panoramic windows.
Above the recreation area there is another author's composition: a round ceiling panel with a pattern in blue, sand and graphite shades. Its texture resembles coral reefs seen through the water column.

Master bedroom with sea depth effect
We devoted the most private room of the yacht to peace and relaxation. The interior is dominated by shades of sand, pearls and warm wood, complemented by cool blue and graphite accents.
The central place is occupied by a large bed with a padded headboard that smoothly wraps around the sleeping area. Behind it are panels with small decorative elements resembling marine life with a characteristic striped pattern.

A special solution of Studia 54 is a decorative insert in the floor with the effect of sea depth. Its surface conveys the movement of water and the play of sunlight. This technique creates a feeling of proximity to the sea even in the most private part of the yacht.
A small lounge area with two upholstered armchairs and a coffee table was placed near the panoramic windows. Here you can spend the morning with a cup of coffee, watching the movement of the yacht and the changing horizon. Nearby there is a dressing table area with a round mirror and a sculptural floor lamp.
Soft carpets, enveloping furniture shapes and delicate lighting maintain an atmosphere of privacy, especially valuable during long trips.

Bar and outdoor deck
The lounge is complemented by a spacious bar area with panoramic windows. The smooth lines of the bar counter repeat the contours of the yacht's hull, and the combination of natural wood, light stone and warm metal continues the overall palette of the project.
There is a sculptural light installation above the counter. Its thin metal supports and curved plates resemble sails filled with wind. Behind the bar there is a cabinet with a light for storing collectible drinks and glasses.

The lounge has a view of the outdoor deck, where we have provided a chamber seating area with two armchairs. Here you can spend the evening with a glass of wine, watching the sunset and listening to the sound of the water.
The connection between the interior and the open deck has become one of the main features of Mar Adentro. For a customer who appreciates travel and the marine environment, the opportunity to constantly feel the proximity of water was of particular importance.
The customer's personal world
In the Mar Adentro project, we combined the recognizable style of the Studia 54 with the architectural features of the existing yacht and the personal hobbies of its owner.

Mar Adentro is designed for measured travel, family vacations and meetings with loved ones. Here you can watch the sea from your own bedroom, spend the day in the panoramic living room and end the evening by the fireplace after returning from the open deck.
For Studia 54, this project has become a new experience in designing a private space where yacht movement, seascapes and interior combine into a single story.
