In the Persian Gulf, not far from Dubai Marina, lies the man-made island of Bluewaters — often called the “Island of Blue Waters” and the “Jewel of Dubai.” Bluewaters combines seclusion and serenity with the comfort of a modern lifestyle. Only a few dozen villas occupy the island, and the interior design of one of them was created by the Studia 54 team.
We have completed over 70 projects in Dubai, and one of our clients recommended us to an entrepreneur who owns one of the hotels on Bluewaters. He wanted to live nearby, in a private residence where he could both host meetings and attract new investors for the development of his business.
Our task was to design an interior that would feel both luxurious and inviting, a space to fall in love with at first sight. The residence serves as the entrepreneur’s personal hallmark, reflecting the same refined atmosphere as the hotels he builds.
The status of the residence owner
The entrance hall of the Bluewaters residence is infused with Eastern motifs. A custom chandelier made of a thousand crystals was designed to resemble traditional botanical ornaments. Geometric, multi-layered lighting compositions give the ceiling a striking architectural rhythm.
The chandelier harmonizes beautifully with the combination of matte and glossy finishes across the two levels. We also mixed dark and light varieties of marble to make the space feel more open and airy. The wall cladding is crafted from natural walnut with a gradient tint, adding depth and warmth to the interior.
At the center of the grand hall stands a decorative water feature with an orange tree — a symbolic gesture that highlights the status of the residence’s owner. Completing the composition are swan sculptures by Jeff Koons, the true “jewels” of this luxurious home.
Majlis design in Dubai
In Arab culture, the majlis, a space dedicated to receiving guests, is a symbol of hospitality. It is a place for both formal and informal gatherings, where dinners and conversations take place. In other words, it is the heart of an Eastern home.
While the function of the majlis has remained the same, serving as a welcoming space for guests, its design has evolved. In the Bluewaters residence, we reinterpreted this tradition through the recognizable Studia 54 style.
The majlis area was designed to be expressive, refined, and comfortable for hosting a large number of guests. At the entrance, a lighting installation made of glass tubes with dynamic illumination serves as a captivating focal point.
When developing the interior in Dubai, our task was to create a relaxed setting for social interaction. We used rich colors and tactile materials, arranging a large seating area with several sofas so that every guest could feel at ease. For this project, we also designed exclusive wall panels made from precious wood species and a custom chandelier inspired by the oriental paisley motif.
The dark color palette is complemented by golden accents, evoking the elegance of royal Arabian style.
Dining area for distinguished guests
The dining area is designed to accommodate 16–18 people. While guests engage in conversation, the staff prepares the table and sets everything for the formal dinner.
Above the grand dining table hangs a mirrored portal that visually expands the space and softens its boundaries. From the niche, cascades of crystal strands descend like a waterfall wall — their reflections in the sunlight shine brighter than hundreds of diamonds.
Family dining area
In the design of the family dining room, we created a layered lighting scheme that combines soft ambient illumination with chandeliers and LED accents. At the center hangs an asymmetrical chandelier with a brass-finished metal frame, while additional lighting is integrated into the niches displaying art pieces.
Between the niches, a TV area is framed with blue marble cladding — a detail complemented by blue dining chairs that echo the room’s color palette.
The Bluewaters villa interior in the Studia 54 style is a true symbol of status — something every property owner on the shores of the Persian Gulf aspires to express.
The interior of this Bluewaters residence embodies the essence of tropical chic. It brings together Eastern aesthetics, an atmosphere of hospitality, distinctive details, and our signature design approach.
